Ninja AF400ME: Two drawers. One dinner plan.

There is a particular kind of kitchen math that starts with “the potatoes need another ten minutes” and ends with someone eating a lukewarm main. Dinner is ready. Just not all of it.

The Ninja Foodi MAX Dual Zone AF400ME is built around that familiar mismatch. Its two drawers have independent settings, so a main and a side can take different routes to the table. SYNC coordinates their programmed finish times. MATCH copies the same settings across both drawers when dinner calls for more of one thing.

For a household that regularly cooks two foods at once, that separation is the attraction. The interesting question is how well two smaller cooking spaces fit the way you actually eat.

Two foods. One finish line.

Picture vegetables in one drawer and a main in the other, each needing its own time and temperature. Set both zones and select SYNC: the longer cycle starts first, while the shorter one waits until their remaining times line up.

The appliance handles the timing; you still choose suitable settings and check that the food is done.

SYNC: Different settings, coordinated finish times. The choice for two foods that need different treatment.

MATCH: The same settings in both drawers. Useful when you want a second batch alongside the first.

What does 9.5L actually give you?

The headline number needs a little translation. You get two separate 4.75L drawers, rather than one wide tray. That is useful for keeping foods apart, but a dish that needs one continuous cooking area cannot borrow space from the other side.

Think about your regular meals before thinking about the liter count. Mains and sides, different food preferences, or two batches with matching settings all give the layout a job. You can also run a single zone when that is all you need.

Six ways to put it to work.

Air Fry is the obvious starting point. Max Crisp is intended for smaller frozen foods that suit high-temperature cooking. Roast and Bake widen the dinner options, Reheat gives leftovers another turn, and Dehydrate handles drying.

The AF400ME has those six functions. Choose for the food in front of you; the hottest setting is not automatically the right one.

Make room. Then wash up.

This is an appliance to measure for. Ninja’s AF400 FAQ gives exterior dimensions of 32.5cm high × 41.5cm wide × 27cm deep. Leave additional room to open the drawers and follow the manual’s ventilation guidance above and around the unit.

The drawers and removable crisper plates are dishwasher safe; Ninja recommends hand-washing to extend their life. Let them cool before cleaning. The main unit stays out of the dishwasher.

The Finds for Real take

If your evenings regularly involve a main and a side—or two people who want different things—the AF400ME has a clear purpose. Separate settings and coordinated finish times address an everyday cooking problem without asking both foods to compromise.

If you mostly cook one small portion, need a broad tray for larger dishes, or have little spare counter space, a different layout may suit you better. Buy for the meals you repeat, not the number of buttons you might use once.

Look for AF400ME. And 9.5L.

This guide covers the black Ninja Foodi MAX Dual Zone AF400ME. The linked Amazon listing’s model details and product barcode identify that model, although its 5.2L size-selector label conflicts with them. Confirm the AF400ME model code, selected offer, seller and warranty terms before ordering.

A few good questions

Can the drawers use different temperatures?

Yes. Each zone has its own function, temperature and time settings. Use SYNC to coordinate the programmed finish times when those settings differ.

Does MATCH turn it into one large drawer?

No. MATCH copies the cooking settings across two separate drawers. Each drawer still has 4.75L capacity.

Can I cook with just one drawer?

Yes. You can use a single zone; the instruction manual explains how to set it up.
