KitchenAid Artisan in Honey: Pretty color, practical kit?
If you make cake batter and then whip cream for the filling, a second mixer bowl saves you washing up halfway through. The KitchenAid Artisan 4.8 L Honey kit includes one, along with four mixing tools and a pouring shield.
That’s a useful bundle if you bake regularly. If you’re buying your first stand mixer, though, it’s worth knowing what those extras actually do before paying for them.

What’s in the box?
The Honey model covered here is 5KSM175PSBHY. The listed bundle includes:
- A 4.8 L stainless steel bowl with a handle.
- A smaller, handleless 3 L stainless steel bowl.
- A flat beater and a flex-edge beater.
- A wire whisk and a dough hook.
- A pouring shield.
KitchenAid lists the same accessory combination for its regional 5KSM175 range. Check the exact model and contents when ordering, because Artisan bundles vary.

Which tool goes with which recipe?
Wire whisk: Use it for mixtures that need air, such as whipped cream and egg whites.
Flat beater: This is the tool for cake batter, cookie mixtures and creamed frostings.
Flex-edge beater: Its flexible edge helps scrape the bowl as it mixes. It’s worth having if you often stop to scrape batter from the sides, although you may still need to do that occasionally. Switch the mixer off before scraping by hand.
Dough hook: Use it to mix and knead yeast doughs, including bread and pizza dough. KitchenAid specifies Speed 2 for yeast dough; turning it up isn’t a shortcut to faster kneading.
The pouring shield fits over the bowl to help contain splashes and gives you a chute for adding ingredients. These uses and the dough-speed guidance are covered in KitchenAid’s owner’s manual.

Will you use both bowls?
The spare bowl is handy when a recipe has separate mixtures. You could leave your filling in one while you prepare the next component in the other, rather than transfer everything to another container.
If you usually make a single batch of cookies and call it a day, the second bowl may be less useful. Think about what you already bake and where you’ll store it between uses.
Make room for the mixer
Honey is a warm orange finish, so it’s worth considering alongside the appliances already on your counter. If you like a colorful kitchen, it gives you plenty to work with.
The practical question is where it will sit. Measure the space you have and check the mixer’s dimensions before ordering. You’ll also need clearance to raise the tilt-head, particularly beneath wall cabinets.
If it’s going in a cupboard, think about lifting it out each time. Include the spare bowl and tools in your storage plans, too.
Who would get the most from it?
This kit makes sense for someone who bakes often and wants to make different things: cakes one weekend, pizza dough the next, perhaps cream or frosting to finish a dessert. There’s a clear use for each tool in that kind of routine.
For occasional baking, a hand mixer may already cover what you need. And if you want a stand mixer but won’t use the extra bowl or flex-edge beater, compare this kit with a simpler Artisan bundle. Check the actual contents and price difference rather than assuming more accessories mean better value.
Before you order
Check that the listing specifies Honey and the model you want. For a UAE purchase, confirm the plug, electrical specification, warranty coverage and returns with the seller. The terms on an overseas KitchenAid page may differ from those for your order.
One cleaning detail is easy to miss: KitchenAid’s manual says the wire whisk needs hand washing. Don’t put all the accessories in the dishwasher together without checking their care instructions.
If the second bowl and extra beater would get regular use, this bundle is worth considering. If you’re mainly drawn to Honey, that’s fine too—just compare the available bundles before deciding what to spend.
